Is Jesus Christ God?
Isaiah 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
The nature of God is inherently mysterious and far beyond human comprehension. The Christian perspective of God is often referred to as "the trinity", although the term "trinity" appears nowhere in the Bible. Nonetheless, there is an understanding that God takes three forms throughout the Bible; one of those forms being as man, in the person of Jesus Christ. There is only one God. But God manifests in three distinct individuals throughout both the Old and New Testament. Each have the same exact character, thoughts, and spirit, but serve unique purposes. They are one. And Jesus is one of the three persons of the Godhead.
Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord
There is only One Lord and One God by nature.
Isaiah 43:10-11 Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.
Jesus is not another god. God was not formed; there are none beside him and none like him. Jesus was existent before the creation of our reality. He was not created, rather through him (the Word of God), all things were created.
John 1:1,14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Jesus Christ is the Word of God who was with him at the beginning. The Word is God himself. God dwelt among us in the human host body of Jesus Christ, so that he could save the entire world from the punishment required of our sins.
Colossians 1:16-18 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Jesus literally created us. At the beginning when God spoke, all things were created. His word that went forth creating all things was Jesus Christ in his heavenly form. He is the carpenter and architect of our entire universe. Christ is God. They are one.
Isaiah 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
Only God can save us. He alone is our savior.
Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
The Holy Spirit is also represented being equal with God both in the New and Old Testament. There are many false religions that describe The Holy Spirit as "God's force" or "God's power" which couldn't be further from the truth, and is actually a blasphemous teaching. God himself is The Word. God himself is The Holy Spirit. We can see the Holy Spirit acting as a distinct individual, speaking and interacting with people, just as God does, as if He were a person (because He is). The scriptures even refer to The Holy Spirit, along with Jesus, as God.
Here we see that the Holy Spirit establishes overseers of the flock, which HE purchased with HIS blood. Who shed their blood for us? Jesus. Who purchased us with their blood? Jesus. There is no distinction between Jesus and the Holy Spirit...because they are one. One God, three people.
James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
There's only one God. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All are God. All are one. All are equal. They are united.
Exodus 20:3,5 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.
While there is only one God, the bible does speak about other "gods" (notice the lowercase). Without having faith in the true God and believing in him; humans tend make their own "gods" and subjugate themselves under any power they wish, worshipping any spirit, or idol that they please. This can come in the form of worshipping another man, whether it be a sports star or president, or even a boss at work. Humans can subject themselves under the power of anything, but by nature, there is only one God.
Galatians 4:8 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.
God was not formed. He is, He was, and He always will be eternally existent. He is this way, naturally. By nature, there are none like him. Without knowing God, we can easily find ourselves attaching spiritual significance to worldly things. It can be drugs and alcohol. It can be a job or a career. It can be a romantic partner, or even a religion. Humans can make a god or idol out of anything...but there is only one true God.
2 Peter 1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Here we see The Father is called God.
Acts 5:3-4 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
Here we see the Holy Spirit called God. Again, The Holy Spirit is not merely God's "power" or "force". The Bible clearly presents The Holy Spirit as a conscience individual, with a gender (male), equivalent with God. The Holy Spirit is God.
Acts 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
The Holy Spirit speaks and refers to himself as "I" and "Me", giving commandments, performing the same works as God himself. They are one and the same. While The Holy Spirit is distinct in his own person, The Bible refers to him interchangeably with God.
Isaiah 6:8-10 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
I heard the voice of the Lord: One voice. Whom shall I send: One God. Who will go for "us"?
Is this referring to multiple gods? Absolutely not, there are no other gods. But, we can observe that there is a plurality with God. Even though there is only One God, we can see him appear in scripture in three distinct forms, and even refers to himself and is presented as a multitude.
Genesis 18:1-2 And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground
The plurality of God can be seen as early as Genesis 1:26-27, "Let us make man in our image" and "So he created man in his own image". The opening chapter of scripture portrays God as one man "he", yet also he mysteriously refers to himself as "us".
This is also illustrated further in Genesis 18. The Lord appeared unto Abraham. One Lord. He (the Lord) sits in the tent door. He (Abraham) sees The Lord in the door, and sees three men. One Lord. Three Men. He runs to meet them, emphasising God's plurality similar to Isaiah 6:8 "who will go for us", but here it is specified that the multitude of God is a group of three distinct men.
Acts 28:25-27 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers, Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Jesus was not just another Prophet of God, rather he was God himself manifested in a human host body (Lord of Hosts). The Godhead (three men all equal, individual, and God), dwelled within Jesus, fully. He was 100% man and 100% God.
1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
God was manifest in the flesh. The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). God's words are spirit and are life. Jesus was the living word made flesh. He is God. The Spirit is God. The Word is God.
Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Isaiah 43:11 I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.
In Matthew, Jesus saves us from our sins. In Isaiah, there is no saviour besides the Lord. In order for both to be true, Jesus must be The Lord. He is YHVH. He is Jehovah made flesh. Jesus and The Father are one.
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
The Hebrew definition of Immanuel can be found in Strong's Concordance H6005 (https://biblehub.com/hebrew/6005.htm), and means "with us is God". This was a prophecy of God being born in the flesh in the body of the man. Jesus Christ is God himself, birthed into the flesh. The Bible confirms this over and over again. But then how can one explain the seeming contradiction below? Isn't the Father greater than Jesus?
John 10:30 I and my Father are one.
John 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
Philippians 2:6-8 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Jehovah's witnesses (just an example, they aren't the only ones) love to use John 14:28 in an attempt to prove that Jesus is not God, even though the full spectrum of scripture proves otherwise. The simple explanation can be found in Philippians above. Jesus was God himself made manifest in the flesh. But while in his fleshly state, being man, he took on the form of a servant, and was lower in position for those 33 years. Jesus was humbled as a man and as a servant, and he was then exalted as King and Lord. The Father was greater in position at the time of Jesus' life on earth, but not in nature. Him and The Father are one. By nature, they are both equally God. God's fullness dwelled within the body of Christ.
Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
No defender of the faith and follower of The Way can worship anyone but God.
Exodus 34:14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God
Yet, Jesus was worshipped as God while he was in the flesh.
Matthew 14:33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
Matthew 28:9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
Matthew 2:11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.
The disciples worshipped Jesus, the people worshipped Jesus, and even as a newborn child, Jesus was worshipped by the wise men. The greek word for the word worship used to describe the action of the wise men is G4352, "proskynéō" from G4314 and a probable derivative of G2965 (meaning to kiss, like a dog licking his master's hand); to fawn or crouch to, i.e. (literally or figuratively) prostrate oneself in homage (do reverence to, adore):—worship. The wise men of Herod performed an act equivalent to a dog licking the hand of his master. If God said you "shalt worship no other god" and these men were effectively licking the hand of their master...that's because he truly was their Master. Even as a newborn, Jesus was God. He was Immanuel, God with us.
All three of the persons in the Godhead are called God;
Psalm 89:26 He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
The Father is God.
1 Timothy 1:16-17 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Jesus Christ is God.
The Holy Spirit is God.
God is the creator...he created all things himself:
Isaiah 44:24 Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the Lord that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself
The Father created all things.
Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.
Jesus Christ created all things.
Job 33:4 The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
The Holy Spirit gives life. God is three people.
1 Thessalonians 1:9-10 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
Jesus came to us from heaven. He was existent before he came into the flesh. He revealed himself consistently throughout the Old Testament as the "Angel of The Lord". He wrestled with Jacob (Genesis 32:24-30). He walked in the furnace with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (Daniel 3:23-25). He walked with Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:8). Jesus was raised from the dead by the Holy Spirit. We pray in his name because he is alive in heaven as we speak, interceding for us as our High Priest. Jesus is the lamb of God.
John 2:19-22 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body. When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
In Thessalonians God raised Jesus from the dead. In John, Jesus says that he will raise himself from the dead. In Romans, The Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead. All three are one. All three are God. All three performed the resurrection of Christ.
Isaiah 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
The Father is God.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
The Son is God, equivalent with The Father.
Hebrews 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
The Holy Spirit is made equivalent with Jesus.
Psalm 147:5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
The Father is all knowing.
John 2:24-25 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
Jesus knows all men.
Isaiah 40:13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him?
None can teach the Spirit of God, because he too is all knowing. They are one.
Jeremiah 23:24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord.
God is omnipresent.
Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Jesus is omnipresent.
Psalm 139:7-8 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
The Holy Spirit is omnipresent.
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Notice this...three individuals. One name. Just like Genesis 18. Three men. One Lord.
Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
In Psalm 23, God is our shepherd. In John 10, Jesus is identified as the shepherd. If A=B. And B=C. Then A=C. Jesus=God.
1 Samuel 2:2 There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.
1 Corinthians 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
Another example: If God is our Rock. And Christ is our Rock. Then Jesus is God, The Rock.
In the book of John, Jesus Christ makes seven figurative "I am..." statements, and two literal ones:
1) The Bread of Life John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
Exodus 16:4 Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.
2) The Light of the world John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Exodus 13:21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night
Exodus 14:19-20 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
Isaiah 42:6 I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles
Isaiah 49:6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.
Psalm 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
3) The Door John 10:7, 9 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
Psalm 118:19-22 Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the Lord: This gate of the Lord, into which the righteous shall enter. I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation. The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
Genesis 28:17-18, 22a And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven. And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it. And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house.
Genesis 6:16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it. Genesis 7:15-16 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life. And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in.
4) The Shepherd John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Ezekiel 34:22-24 Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle. And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. And I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the Lord have spoken it.
Jeremiah 23:2-3 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the Lord. And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.
Isaiah 40:10-11 Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
Numbers 27:15-17 And Moses spake unto the Lord, saying, Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation, Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd.
5) The Resurrection and The Life John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live
Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Job 19:25-26 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God
Daniel 12:2-3 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
Psalm 16:9-10 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Psalm 17:15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
Hosea 6:1-2 Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
Ezekiel 37:4-6 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
6) The Way, The Truth, The Life John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Genesis 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Isaiah 35:8 And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.
Psalm 119:30,160 I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me. Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
Jeremiah 6:16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
7) The True Vine John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
Isaiah 5:7 For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.
Isaiah 27:2-3 In that day sing ye unto her, A vineyard of red wine. I the Lord do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.
Psalm 80:8-11, 14-15 Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it. Thou preparedst room before it, and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land. The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars. She sent out her boughs unto the sea, and her branches unto the river. Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine; And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.
Jeremiah 33:15-16 In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The Lord our righteousness.
8) "I am he"
John 18:4-6 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
Isaiah 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
Isaiah 48:12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.
Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
9) "I AM"
John 8:58-59 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.
Jesus Is the bread of life, which is the Word of God. He is the light of the world, the doorway to heaven, and the good shepherd of God's sheepfold. He is the resurrection leading to eternal life, and through him is the only way to get there. His story, his sacrifice, his word, is the truth. He is the true vine that was brought out of Egypt. Jesus is "he" who was at the beginning and will be so at the end, the Alpha and Omega. He is the "I AM", the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, first revealed to Moses. The King of kings and The Lord of lords. As we compare the declarations of the New Testament juxtaposed to the prophecies given to us through the jewish scriptures, it is so clear who Jesus Christ is. He is the rock of our salvation. He is the Messiah. He is the anointed one who was cut off before the second destruction of the temple (Daniel 9:26). He is the stone which the builders refused, and has become the head of the corner. The same stone which was at the bottom of Jacob's ladder, anointed with oil, providing a way to heaven. He is the passover lamb who takes away the sin of the world; A feat only God himself could achieve. Thus, Jesus Christ is God.
Genesis 22:8,13 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
Ram? What about God's lamb?
Exodus 12:21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
God provided his sacrificial lamb in the body of Jesus Christ. We can see in the subtlety of Genesis 22, when Abraham tells his son that God is going to provide a lamb for the sacrifice, yet a few verses later they find a ram. God still had not provided his own lamb at this point. Notice the scene at hand...Abraham, known as the "father of many nations" (Genesis 17:5), is about to sacrifice Isaac, his only son, whom he loves, in order to satisfy God's demand (Genesis 22:2). This is the archetype of God's ultimate plan of redemption for his people. Abraham represents God the Father. Isaac represents Christ the Son. Abraham agrees to kill his Son as a sacrifice. God agrees to have Jesus killed as an atonement for our sins. Isaac carries wood on his back heading up to the mountain. Jesus carried the cross (wood) on his back up to the mount upon which he was crucified. Both Isaac and Jesus had supernatural births. Both Isaac and Jesus were long awaited promises (Isaac to Abraham, The Messiah to the nation of Israel). Both men submitted to their fathers...and so much more. But the main takeaway here is that Jesus was the true sacrificial passover lamb who takes away our sin forever, so long as we place our faith in him.
Isaiah 43:25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
Psalm 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Revelation 22:1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
There is only one God, and God has only one throne. Jesus, the Lamb of God, shares this throne with the Father. They are one. He is God. Only God can take away sin. Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
Finally, we see below, that God identifies "his redeemer" as a distinct individual, equal with himself. Yes my friends, Jesus Christ is God, who was manifested in the flesh, who condescended himself into his own creation, so that the world, through his sacrifice, might be saved. All glory goes to him.
Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
